Vehicle Description

Torch Red 1955 Ford Thunderbird with 54,686 miles. This Thunderbird had a frame off restoration done in the mid 1990s to factory speccifications. The exterior Torch Red paint was finished in multiple coats of acrylic base coat and clear coat. The top was finished in white with the manual folding top finished in black original type cotton canvas fabric. All of the trim pieces were either restored or rechromed. The interior of this T-bird is outfitted to its original black/white vinyl bench seat and black carpet. The interior features roll up windows, 3-speed manual transmission with OverDrive and floor tunnel shifter, electric 4-way power seat, Astra-Dial speedometer with 5,000 rpm tachometer, heater and defroster, and more.

All mechanical systems were overhauled as necessary. The car retained its original OHV special 90-degree V8 providing 292 Cubic Inches of displacement and 193BHP. It is inducted by a 4-bbl Holley carburetor with a chrome-plated oil-bath air cleaner. The engine is coupled by a 3 speed manual with an automatic planetary 4th-speed overdrive gear with a separate t-handle control. Following this is a Hotchkiss drive shaft spinning a 3.92 hypoid differential. This first-gen bird is an excellent, rust-free, meticulously refurbished and maintained example that any collector would be proud to own.
